A Rhapsody in Gold

Interior Design by Hotel Creative

Designed by Hotel Creative, this gloriously decadent bathroom takes luxury maximalism to new heights. Inspired by the original bathroom in Freddie Mercury’s Kensington home, the scheme features classic pieces from Drummonds, taken from the set of the 2018 biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Positioned between two tall sash windows, Drummonds’ Usk bath takes centre stage. Fully clad in brass, it catches the eye upon entering the room, and emphasises the glamourous feel of the space. Commanding a central position, the freestanding Thurso shower adds a classic touch, and stands out within the grand surroundings of the room.

A double Locky vanity with an Arabescato marble top and elegant brass legs provides space for two without overwhelming the space.

Double Derwent lights and mirrors frame the vanity and lend symmetry to the scheme.

Lavish decorative detailing is what sets this bathroom apart: the entire room is swathed in de Gournay’s iconic hand painted St Laurent wallpaper, on antiqued gold, whilst the ceilings are finished with twenty-three carat gold leaf, echoing the unlacquered brass fittings throughout the space. Chic, aged oak herringbone floorboards grounds this characterful, luxurious scheme.
