Nestled in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York, a flat reimagined by the celebrated Studio Shamshiri is as much a work of art as it is a home. Designed for a theatre producer and patron of the arts, the space merges functionality with theatrical flair, creating a home that doubles as a creative sanctuary. Every corner of this lavish brownstone speaks to a love for performance, art, and life, with an eclectic mix of furnishings, vibrant colours, and awe-inspiring details that breathe new life into the bohemian spirit of the West Village.

Where minimalist interiors dominate modern design, this Greenwich retreat flips the script. The aesthetic is unapologetically rich, reminiscent of the avant-garde subculture that once thrived in this neighbourhood. From its statement furniture to the rapturous art that adorns the walls, this space is a bold celebration of creative expression. At its heart, it’s a space that transcends fleeting trends, built to last, with every element thoughtfully curated for both style and longevity.

The primary bath, in particular, is a standout, embodying the marriage of timeless design and luxurious materials. Featuring one of our iconic freestanding showers, the room feels like a scene from a theatrical set. The vintage charm of The Spittal shower, with its sleek silhouette and timeless craftsmanship, complements the mix of furnishings that includes a 1930s Danish chair, a Josef Hoffmann plant stand, and a French Art Nouveau side chair. Each piece feels intentionally selected to evoke a sense of both history and drama.

In the guest bathroom, this drama heightens. Clad in striking cipollino ondulato verde marble, the space is anchored by Drummonds’ Dalby shower, fitted with the Shamrock shower rose in unlacquered brass. The marble’s organic green tones paired with the warm glow of the brass create a feeling of opulence – it’s a room that feels fit for a muse. The bold, rich materials speak to a time when craftsmanship and artistry took centre stage, mirroring the client’s dedication to theatre and storytelling.
