Bold as Brass

Grand in scale, style, & substance, the master bathroom of this 4-bedroom, 19th-century Arts & Crafts property features bold brass finishes, striking onyx-effect wall tiles and statement pieces.

The old 90s style bathroom was tired with little to no colour, texture, or pattern. The owners wanted a much warmer, more vibrant feel for the new bathroom, and set about devising a space they could enjoy spending time in.

Chosen to minimise the number of grout lines, the large-scale floor and wall tiles – with a marble-effect and onyx-effect finish were the starting point for the bathroom’s new look. Embracing the grand proportions of the room, the owners opted for standout classic English fittings from Drummonds, including the freestanding Usk bath clad in gleaming brass, the imposing double Lowther vanity with dramatically veined Arabescato marble and the large overhead brass shower.

A ‘centre stage’ bath was a must-have on the client’s wish list. Based on the much-loved French ‘bateau’ shape, the Usk was the perfect standout piece, offering both style and comfort. Placed in the middle of the room, it has been angled to take full advantage of the view from the window. Chosen for its elegance and warmth, a brass finish features throughout, providing the perfect contrast to the Aegean blue walls and the creamy, softly veined floor.
