Thieves Hollow

Designed by Studio Havn

Thieves Hollow, found in the picturesque village of Prestbury, is one of the finest country houses in Cheshire. Originally designed in the 1920s by W. Worthington in the Arts & Crafts style, the property has undergone an extensive restoration and extension, transforming it into a luxurious private residence for a family of four.

Set within approximately 10 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds, the house’s distinctive butterfly-shape ensures the interiors are bathed in sunlight throughout the day. A seamlessly integrated two-storey extension has given the house a new bar, games room, cinema, gym and spa. The vision was to create a home that respects its past while offering a new chapter of sophistication and functionality required for modern family life.

The original bathrooms were dark and dated, calling for a complete reimagining. The new light-filled, elegant spaces balance classic period detailing with fresh, luxurious materials. The result feels both timeless and revitalised.

Drummonds’ pieces proved the perfect pairing. In the master bathroom, the polished cast-iron Spey bath serves as a striking centrepiece; its smooth, mirrored surface contrasting beautifully against the soft cream marble tones on the floor and walls. Our signature Coll brassware adds warmth and character to the airy space.

The second bathroom continues this theme of refined luxury, with the Thames vanity in Arabescato marble serving as an elegant focal point. Mull basin taps in unlacquered brass complete the look, bringing a sense of heritage and sophistication.

Beyond the bathrooms, the house is filled with carefully considered details that celebrate both tradition and playfulness. A hidden door behind a portrait of Charlie Chaplin leads to the private cinema, a whimsical nod to the home’s harmonious blend of old and new.

Drummonds’ commitment to expert craftsmanship and classic design made them the perfect choice for this project. Their bathroomware not only uphold the home’s historic character but also offer exceptional durability and luxury. Thieves Hollow now stands as a masterclass in respectful restoration – where history and modernity exist in perfect harmony.
