News | See Inside Our Factory

Every Drummonds product starts its life in one of our three factories. By upholding many traditional ‘by-hand’ processes that have been replaced elsewhere by modern batch-processing machines, we produce baths, basins and brassware with un-paralleled levels of detail and quality.

Here, we give you more of an insight into our techniques and processes through photos taken on one of our recent factory visits.

We are not hard to spot once you are on site! This mural was painted for us by a local street-artist.

Drummonds’ Cast Iron Foundry

The Drummonds foundry is always busy, with cast iron constantly hot and ready to be poured into our hand-made bath moulds.

Once cast, each bath is carried in a special cradle and then cut carefully out of its mould by hand.

The raw cast iron bath is then transported to our workshop for the finishing processes to begin.

The bath is reheated in a special ‘oven’ so our own special blend of powdered enamel can be fused to the hot cast iron. This is a time consuming process, but the impeccable quality it produces is well worth the effort.

Each bath is then boxed carefully in a handmade crate, to arrive on your doorstep in perfect condition.

Drummonds’ Brassware Factory

Our brass starts it’s life in bars like below. Each individual piece of every tap, towel rail and waste is carved by hand by one of our skilled team. It is a fascinating process to watch, every tiny detail makes each product unique!
