Interior Trends | The Glitz & Glamour Of Art Deco

We are loving the fact that the beauty of art deco has made a come back as a key design trend of 2013.  Well known for the use of chrome, glass and mirrors, the art deco period certainly reflects the combination of its glamorous Hollywood and sophisticated modernism influences.

What better location than Eltham Palace, beautifully remodelled in the 1930s, to see the art deco style in situ.  We love the wonderful use of blue and green tiles, as well as the wall hung mirror and shiny chrome floorstanding towel rail.

Another stunning bathroom at Eltham Palace.  Using gold (huge trend in 2013!) mosaic tiles with a traditional lion”s head bath filler.  Again, the use of a mirror surround and the glossy black surface on the vanity unit are both beautiful examples of the art deco style.

The idea of using a mirrored surround for your bath tub is a really interesting way of including the art deco theme into your modern bathroom, especially combined with the theatrical 1920″s inspired lion”s head bath filler seen in the image above.

Get the Look in your Bathroom

We have come up with a few ideas to how you can incorporate the art deco style in your bathroom project.

A new addition to our vanity basin range, the Hebdern is a glamorous centrepiece to any art deco inspired bathroom.  Available in either; brass, nickel or chrome legs and a choice of Super Marquina Black, Atlantic Grey or Arabescato marble, this truly is destined to take centre stage in a beautiful bathroom.  This basin can be used with either single basin taps or pop up mixer taps.

The Torridge bath with deco feet is a different take on our popular Usk and Torridge freestanding bath tubs.  Handmade from cast iron and hand-applied vitreous enamel this is a bath tub designed for luxury bathing.  Available in either a primed, painted or polished finish and with the option of brass, nickel or chrome deco feet. We personally love the use of matt black paint and chrome feet seen here, with shiny chrome freestanding single bath taps.

Complete the look of the bath tub with a backloading lion”s head bath filler from the Drummonds” range.  The 1920″s inspired filler is available in brass, nickel or chrome and with a choice of tap heads.

The geometric and angular shapes of basins and baths would look great alongside the symmetry of shiny chrome-framed mirrors.  Our brand new line of bathroom accessories includes a large, square wall-hung mirror, use two of these in chrome over one our double vanity basins to create a beautiful and stylish look.  Also available in nickel and brass.
