Local Happenings | Sensing Spaces – Royal Academy of Arts

Having a preview to this exhibition thanks to House & Gardens, it was a great way to start the week.

8am meeting for coffee and great introduction I then allowed myself time to get lost in the exhibition:
The aim of this – Architecture reimagined… buildings upside down, light from the base upwards… very cool.

Kengo Kuma – combining bamboo shoots with light and even smell… loved this, an organic growing in the space, really beautiful and hard to photograph!

Pexo von Ellrichshausen – pine columns leading to a different ‘tree’ house, kids will love climbing those columns.

Diebedo Francis Kere – ok, remember the little plastic straws, I had a game building with those when I was little, like the dozers you can actually add to this space.

Eduardo Souto De Moura – concrete arches cast in the space. Pretty amazing really.

Li Xiaodong – this was my personal favourite, wood over light representing snow, a maze, darkness and quite was really something especially when there were different elements at every corner, coming into a dark mirrored space with stones as the landscape –awesome.
