Spa ideas for your homeby Hannah Gaskin
Before enjoying your perfect bath, whether it’s just you personally, to enjoy with your partner, bathing your kids or even your dog… make sure you get it right.
First – ensure the room temperature and water temperature are just the way you want them. Its recommended that the water should be slightly warmer that your body temperature, which is roughly 37°C.
Spend time creating good lighting. Candles – especially scented ones – can be good – but maybe not for the dog. Place these out of reach for inquisitive little fingers – Use more liberally when safe to do so.
Choose a playlist that suits your mood. Whether it’s classical, relaxing, jazz, musicals, pop, classic rock or an acoustic – the choices are endless.
A drink by your side, whether its hot chocolate, a cup of tea, coffee, glass of water, wine or prosecco is a nice addition. Keep hot drinks away from slippery hands and enthusiastic bathers.
You could even bring a book with you and lose track of time in your space.
Bubbles are great. The more bubbles the better! But be sure not to over flow the bathtub – memories of Paddington Bear sliding down the stairs with a flood of water and bubbles. Bath bombs can also be a great addition to mix it up at bath time which can help clean and repair the skin. They can come in a variety of scents, shapes, colours and sizes.
When reacting to water, it causes a releasing of fragrances which can make you enjoy your bath more. Try some Epsom bath salts which are a blend of minerals to help reduce stress, relax muscles and loosen stiff joints.
To take your bubble bath that extra mile, combine your bath time with your skin routine, there are plenty of bath friendly face masks which can help treat skin, remove excess oils, help improve the appearance of pores and provide hydration.
Ensure to try something that suits your skin type, works well with your skin and is a scent you like. Mask of magnanimity, by Lush is made with peppermint oil to stimulate the skin. It’s made with marigold oil and chlorophyllin to treat the skin, it’s a great way to gently exfoliate and remove spots.
Moisturising after bathing can help re- hydrate, replenish dry skin and feel fresher. ‘Fresh’ provide a variety of moisturizers in different scents to help sooth and hydrate the skin with different vitamins
And finally – After your relaxing bath, do remember your bath towel! It will save embarrassment… especially if you’re a guest!
