Colourful Living

A period house designed by Ana Engelhorn

This period house has been restored to its former glory by interior designer, Ana Engelhorn.

In line with her eclectic signature style, Ana Engelhorn’s aim was to achieve ‘a perfectly imperfect mix of antiques and contemporary pieces’ that suited the house and the clients and provided the perfect backdrop for their extensive collection of art from around the world.

Colour was a major part of the brief and Ana worked with two natural paint companies to achieve the desired look: Francesca’s Paints from the UK, who offer strong, bold colours and Bauwerk from Germany, who create a more washed-out, uneven finish.

Having worked with Drummonds on previous projects, Ana specified our classic pieces for several of the bathrooms, selecting materials and finishes that paired well with the rich paint colours.

For the master bedroom/bathroom, Ana chose a regal purple which complements both warm and cool colours. It provides the ideal backdrop to the antique brass finish of Drummonds’ Taw Vanity basin and Coll taps, as well the silvery polished exterior of the Spey bath with custom feet.

Featuring Drummonds’ magnificent freestanding Severn, the newly created shower room is painted in a beautiful sea blue, bringing a Mediterranean vibe to the space. The ultimate centrepiece, the Severn is inspired by classic designs of the 1920s.
