Interior Trends | Mixed Materials
There is currently a strong emphasis on quality craftsmanship and longevity in design, consumers are looking for materials that are not only beautiful but durable. High-quality and ultimately expensive products are investment pieces and need to withstand the test of time. Choosing the right materials and how to mix them is key to a design that will still be on trend for years to come.
Whether mixing marble, brass, wood, glass, stone or all of them together, you need to ensure you purchase from suppliers who are renowned for their craft. Research where the raw materials are sourced from and what manufacturing processes are used to create the finished product. Handmade products will always have a better and more unique finish due to close attention to the smallest detail. We love this project from LA-based architects, Jamie Bush & Co: an exquisite mix of stone, glass, wood and steel. Stone walls and floor are juxtaposed against the soft, neutral cushions and rug. A mixture of different wood finishes and various metals complete this industrial kitchen design from DISC Interiors.
A quirky mix of natural materials creates lots of texture and colour in this interesting bathroom concept by architect Marcelo Rosenbaum. A dark marble basin surround is contrasted with a light reflecting mirror vanity and a wooden bath surround.
