Drummonds’ Decorex 2016 stand is the perfect iteration of ‘Heritage Escapism’, celebrating the bathroom’s role as a sanctuary and exploring own design and manufacturing heritage; our ‘roots of design’, the overarching theme for Decorex this year.
The concept is a collaboration between Drummonds’ in-house designer Tommy Bendall and Anna Glover, designer of “the beautiful and the unexpected.” Together, they have conjured a surreal underwater world beneath Venice, filled with exotic objects now submerged.
With echoes of the classical world, it’s an opulent backdrop for Drummonds’ luxurious, classic English bathrooms, with the unmistakable quality of our traditional materials and processes brought to life on the stand in an extraordinary hidden ‘Manufacturing Room.’ Carrying through the underwater theme, it offers an intense experience of the raw industrial and artisanal heritage which produces Drummonds’ baths, brassware and vitreous china: from the casting of red hot molten iron and brass to the many hand processes which deliver a perfect finish. A splendid Morar slipper bath, in the raw, forms the dramatic centrepiece.
New: The Wandle Bath by Martin Brudnizki
Drummonds’ ongoing collaboration with Martin Brudnizski sees the launch of the new ‘Wandle’ single ended bath, be among the first to see it!
Also from Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the imposing double Ladybower Vanity Basin will be shown, alongside new smaller bathroom essentials such as hooks and towel bars. The simple, architectural aesthetics of this collaboration acknowledge tradition whilst subtly extending Drummonds’ portfolio into more contemporary ergonomic forms and new materials.
Baths, Showers and New Finishes
The Wye bateau bath will feature a new hand beaten copper finish and the Bute bath, a sleek contemporary form, has a new painted surround. On the opposite side of the stand, the Thurso freestanding shower commands centre stage – if you loved our Test freestanding shower from Decorex 2015, you are in for a treat!
From Brushed Brass to Antique Nickel and Antique Bronze, the stand also showcases the ever-increasing range of specialist metal finishes available on all Drummonds brassware including taps, showers, heated towel rails, lighting and other accessories.
Feature Walls: Lighting and Tap Collections
Underlining the lush, intense atmosphere of the stand’s design, products have been curated into almost-sculptural compositions. Bath, basin and shower taps hang together on their own feature wall and lights too have a unique montage, with Drummonds’ three hallmark collections, Dalby, Chessleton and Derwent, grouped to exhibit their many custom options.
