Pembrooke & Ives x Drummonds

The Hudson Collection

Drummonds announces the launch of the Hudson Collection, a new brassware range developed in collaboration with the acclaimed New York-based design firm, Pembrooke & Ives. Conceived as a considered exchange between British manufacturing heritage and contemporary American design, the collection reflects a shared commitment to proportion, material integrity and enduring craftsmanship.

Developed over several years, the partnership began shortly after Drummonds opened its New York showroom, when Creative Director James Lentaigne met Andrew Sheinman, Founder of Pembrooke & Ives. What followed was an ongoing dialogue rooted in a mutual fascination for the art and engineering of plumbing – its weight, tactility and architectural presence within a room.

The Hudson Collection takes its name from the Hudson River, a reference to the city of New York where these two brands of British origin now call home. Its design language is deliberately balanced: angular cross-head handles introduce clarity and definition, while lever options offer a quieter, pared-back alternative. Throughout the range, sharper geometry is offset by softened contours – an interplay that gives the collection strength, composure and versatility.

The cross-head in particular is conceived as a sculptural focal point. Confident and architectural, it is grounded by the reassuring solidity that has long defined Drummonds brassware. In contrast, the spout introduces a gentle curvature, creating a measured counterpoint that tempers precision with fluidity.

James Lentaigne comments:

“From the outset, we were intent on creating something that did not sit neatly within a single historical reference. There are subtle nods to Art Deco in the crispness of line, yet the profiles remain softened and restrained. We were careful to avoid unnecessary embellishment – every detail is deliberate. The result carries the weight and permanence associated with Drummonds, interpreted through a lens that feels entirely at home in both a Manhattan apartment and a country house in England.”

The Hudson Collection comprises a full suite of bathroom fittings, including basin and bath fillers, shower controls and shower fittings with handset and riser or wall-mounted configurations. Each component has been designed with tactile precision, ensuring a reassuring response in daily use.

Manufactured using the traditional lost-wax casting process, every piece is hand-finished to achieve a depth and clarity of surface that will mellow gracefully over time. The collection is available in nine metal finishes allowing it to integrate seamlessly across a wide spectrum of architectural settings.

While the aesthetic looks forward, the making remains firmly rooted in time-honoured craft. As with all Drummonds pieces, the Hudson Collection is designed not simply to endure stylistically, but to last for generations – a testament to material quality, exacting manufacture and thoughtful design.

“On the surface the fixtures have a wonderful simplicity and elegance, while subtle bevels and sculpted curvature start to reveal greater complexity of design and craftsmanship. It was exciting to see the artistry of the Drummonds fabrication process achieve this vision”, says Francis Nicdao, Principal and Chief Creative Officer of Pembrooke & Ives.
